I love this post because I’m going to share something with you that’s cheap and beneficial to your health – skin brushing!

Most people know the benefits of exfoliation and probably do it for their faces – including men when they shave.

It’s great for skin cell turnover and promoting smoother, more even textured skin without all the little “bumpies”. It increases circulation as well which is great for the skin and also aids in muscle recovery.

Some people have probably heard of “dry brushing”. Dry brushing is a method of using a coarse brush or sea sponge and brushing all over the body (starting with the most far away parts, like the toes) towards the direction of the heart, pre-shower.

I forget.

All the time.

And if you’re like me, we want something we can do IN the shower.

A very long time ago, I was at a spa that catered to a more Japanese-style & Korean-style of bathing and treatments. As part of the shower area, they had a section of smaller showers where women (who obviously knew what they were doing) wet and then used these special washcloths.

And scrubbed vigorously!

I started doing it. Vigorously.

You can find these washcloths very cheaply on Amazon (I put an example in my Amazon storefront).

You can use this on all skin types though I recommend not using it for your face and opting for a Clarisonic or some type of chemical exfoliator if you go that route.

Use a small amount of soap if you prefer. Or even something with glycolic acid in it to help the process (i.e. Glytone’s Retexturing Body Wash). Word of caution: Products with acids like glycolic or other BHAs/AHAs are not something that you want to use on any area above or around the naval area in case you sweat and things drip south. If you catch my drift. And I hope you do!

Otherwise just using the washcloth plainly (sans soap) for about 5 minutes works very well and yes, it works great to keep ingrown hairs at bay, again… if you catch my drift.

It looks a lot gentler than it is based on the picture of my own scrubber that I’ve included above!

Any Questions??
