Internet world, meet my friend Rick. ( @endopharm79 )

We bonded on Instagram over a nerdy love of research, health, and helping people. We both have seen, heard and done some sh*t -and have the OCD to prove it! And we’re not often at a loss for words…a lot of words.

However, my interview style is usually short. I told him this in advance…LOL.

Nope.

The Bold and the italicizing is ME.

(… and the “*” for profanity because I know we have some younger readers)

  • (Me) What’s your purpose or cause…on IG at least?

(Rick) “grew up an only child in a broken home. Age 7 I became a skateboarder. I always loved art. I graduated high school at age 15. I was a registered nutritional consultant practitioner by age 21. By 24, I was working industrial work in mining and had two young sons. By 26, I was a safety consultant in the oilfield. My baby momma and I split after I realized she had severe drug and alcohol addictions. I lost 2 homes, 2 vehicles and basically everything I’d worked for. I took my kids and continued work in the oilfields until age 30, when I met my (now) wife. I couldn’t handle the 20 hour days any longer, moved to be with my wife and her 3 children, and took a year off to recover and focus on our children.

By 31 we moved to her home on a reservation and I accepted a job as a maintenance man (and) by 32 it was back to mining, but locally. At age 37 I had a horrible accident at work that left me with a vertically broken femur, no ACL, no MCL, no PCL, menisci or patella. Two days later, I formed a blood clot and surgery was not an option- Bedrest for a year until the blood clot either dissipated or killed me. That’s when I developed PTSD and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) due to the life-changing injury and constant battles with my first two sons’ mom. I picked up a gnarly beer drinking habit from there and clonazepam addiction.
Basically I spent an entire year drunk and medicated before I realized it was time to change. This entire time, I continued studying all things health related, that was my passion. The injury led to cannabis use instead of opiates. So like my OCD self, I learned everything I could… as fast as I could. I quit everything medication/booze wise and reaped the benefits of cannabis. After healing to about 60 percent I was full to go back to work and advocating cannabinoids, helping homeless people, setting up suboxone clinics, speaking on behalf of addicts to allow cannabinoids into treatment centers, growing and making my own medicines, formulating product etc.
I’ll end it there because I already deleted what would have been a 20 page biography. F**kin loaded question haha.
  • Is there a backstory to that (or what’s your background)?
“My purpose and or cause is to help anyone in need, spread my knowledge and experience, and call out fake motherf**kers. Humans can be undeniably s**tty people and need to be checked. As it pertains to Instagram, again calling out the bullshit in health related areas, building contacts and helping people I wouldnt normally be able to reach.
I’m still kind of new to it but it’s another tool, and I have to adapt or else.
(We ALL do!)
  • One health-related product/supplement/activity/? you can’t live without?
“I cannot narrow it to one, so I’ll add 3: Cannabidiol (cbd), fish oil, undenatured whey protein isolate
(OMG we are going to have so much to talk about research-wise on those 3 ^)
  • One health-related product/supplement/activity/? that you feel is bogus?
“Too many supplements are bogus. Many do nothing positive but lighten your wallet. Many are underdosed, overpriced, poorly sourced, based on “bro” science or no science at all. I’ll name one and lump them together as a category: “weight loss” supplements!
  • Any misconceptions about a health product/treatment/research you’d like to clear up?
“One thing I’ve learned is just how gnarly “big pharma” is. Altering studies to push medicines that addict, harm and or kill. Half the research already has a predetermined result. That’s not f**kin science!
Another I’ll mention is how absolutely useless oral glutamine is. It’s expensive and our system just turns it into glucose. So if you like glutamine, use it intravenously or replace it with the same amount of glucose (laughing).
I’ll also say ADD and ADHD are symptoms, not diseases. And easily reversed in a few days.
Oh! Another. Addictions, once you’ve overcome an addiction, please quit referring to yourself as such. By doing so you limit yourself and rewire your brain to make this somewhat true, in your mind. You’re no longer a f**kin addict!
(Yes, quit talking negatively to yourself, people)
  • Favorite workout?
“Favorite workout by far is dead cardio. Something I developed based on the principles of HIIT cardio when I was 24 or 25. Its fast, very hard and incredibly effective.
  • Favorite food?
“My favorite food is basically wild game. Moose, deer, fish, birds.
  • David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar? (Alternate question: Beatles or Stones?)
“David Lee Roth earned my respect as a performer,  but Sammy Hagar as a musician? He’s got my vote every time.
As for Beatles or the Rolling Stones? I love the song “paint it black”, but it end there. I love everything the Beatles did, from music to art to drug experimentation.
(I only asked for one answer, Rick, LOL)
Thanks for having me, and I wish we could have wrote a book!
(We still can…)
Thanks to anyone in advance that wants to read my sh*t, f**kin THANK YOU!!!
(Ditto!)

We are definitely going to be discussing cardio, CBD, whey protein, fish oil…ETC in the near-future

Any Questions??
