I don’t know about you, but *I* got the worst respective parts & DNA of my mother and father.
Oh well ((le sigh))
So, skin is DEFINITELY a “cross” I bare. Bad skin, that is.
Every so often I need to see a practitioner to, what I affectionately refer to as, BURNING OFF MY BARNACLES!!
Oh yes! Those skin tags, cherry angiomas and now that I’m in my 40’s…something called “Actinic Keratosis” (aka, brown crusty, scaly things that don’t go away).
You can have a dermatologist or “plastic” remove these (God bless you if you have enough cash or great insurance to do this) or you could research and other practitioners outside of your insurance intermediary.
Let me help.
Let me introduce “Juno”.
She is a ray of sunshine in my barnacle, bad skin life.
Why? Because she knows her stuff. And am INCREDIBLY PICKY!!! Not only am I a clinical doctor myself, but I really study. I’ve try procedures, I research EVERY THING!
Now, it doesn’t have to be Juno (and btw, this is NOT a paid advertisement not do I receive ANY compensation for this. I believe that #sharingiscaring and I believe in supporting SMART WOMEN in business). #womensupportingwomen
Man, is she smart!!!

Okay, so she burned my barnacles. These will heal up in about a week. And during the 30min zapping session, I grilled her for other skin info. ((You’re welcome!!)) Let’s begin:
Dry healing or Moisture healing?: Moisture. If it’s the upper layers of the skin, pick moisture. Keep the skin clean, limit your showers and use Vaseline or Aquaphor.
New(er) procedure your excited about?: There’s two – fibroblasting and BB Glow. Fibroblasting is creating little micro traumas in the skin (similar to microneedling) and then new collagen is stimulated. It can cause a lift to the skin as well. It’s been used in other countries for awhile. BB Glow is combining microneedling with permanent tattooing, in a sense; the same principles of micro needling but small particles of (healthy) permanent foundation are used. So your skin looks healthier and better.
Treatment you wouldn’t spend money on: Lasers! Too many variables and operator error (I can relate!!).
Treatment you WOULD spend money on?: Not so much “treatment” but I would get my skin professionally analyzed. That’s truly important. Then use that knowledge to better tailor your skin program not necessarily buy high-end products. In fact, they’re not often better than a simple, cheap regime.
Fave treatment?: Toss between microneedling and permanent lip liner
Fave drugstore product?: Vaseline! 2nd runner-up would be Aquaphor!
What else? The big trend is in microblading (eyebrows). Make sure your technician is very well trained. There are a lot of certifications out there and questionable trainers. If the person does microblading AND shading/powdering, they should do that on separate days for you. Otherwise the hair strokes (microblading) are going to fade. ( #truth ) Especially if they do shading AFTER doing the blading. The most important thing is the shape and the overall color of the tint. We’ve corrected some really crazy shades from blue to rainbow! Also if you wax your brows, the hair may not grow back. However, in the bikini area, it will grow back thicker and stronger and try to push through the skin, which is why you (yes, me) may see a lot of ingrown’s.
